Connecting multiple projectors to a single computer

To create a panoramic projection using multiple projectors, we suggest leveraging Radeon and FirePro series graphics cards with Eyefinity technology, or Nvidia video cards with Surround technology for up to 2-3 projectors.

They allow simultaneous blending of 2-6 projector images into a single desktop, provided they share the same resolution.

Examples of panoramic resolution:

• 2 projectors with 800x600 resolution in Eyefinity mode will create a 1600x600 desktop. Three of these projectors would create a 2400x600 desktop
• At a resolution of 1024x768, 2 projectors will produce a desktop of 2048x768, 3 projectors will produce a desktop of 3072x768
• At a resolution of 1280x800, 2 projectors will create a 2560x800 screen, 3 projectors will create a 3840x800 screen
• At 1920x1080 resolution, 2 projectors will create a 3840x1080 screen, 3 projectors will create a 5760x1080 screen

Vertical positioning of the projectors is also possible (each projector will produce a vertical image)

In the Windows setup, the system will recognize a single screen with the combined resolution. Full-screen applications will run seamlessly across all projectors.
When choosing a graphics card, ensure it supports Eyefinity or Surround technology and confirm the maximum number of screens supported.

Creating a panoramic projection with 2-3 projectors is relatively straightforward, as most modern graphics cards support Eyefinity technology for this number of devices.

For the third and subsequent projectors, a DisplayPort or Mini DisplayPort is required. Given that these ports are not standard on many projector models, active (not passive) adapters to HDMI, USB-C, VGA, or DVI are needed. It's advisable to choose adapters explicitly mentioned as Eyefinity-compatible.

Once Eyefinity mode is set up, the next step is merging images from the projectors. This can be accomplished physically by adjusting projector positions and settings to align projections side-by-side. However, achieving a high-quality seam can be challenging due to potential misalignment or overlapping.

While some visible seams might be tolerable in casual settings, professional solutions offer seamless blending using specialized equipment or software. These involve overlapping projections by about 10% and then adjusting markers, gradient, and brightness at the seam to create a seamless image.

To display different content across multiple projectors, connect them to a single computer and choose "Extend These Screens" in the Windows Display Setup.

In this mode, full-screen applications will run on one projector at a time. Use the Windows keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Win + left/right arrow to shift a full-screen program to another projector.

Our interior design projection software, POGUMAX Designer, includes features for automatic setup on the desired projector.

You can mimic the effect of three-wall projections by connecting three projectors to one computer, allowing you to drag non-full-screen applications from one screen to another.

If you wish to connect three projectors to one laptop (one via HDMI, USB-C, the other via VGA), note that most laptop video cards do not support three active screens simultaneously. You'll need to select any two screens to be active - either one projector with the laptop screen, or two projectors with the laptop screen off.

For duplicating images across projectors, video splitters are useful. These devices take one signal from a computer and distribute it to multiple projectors or monitors.

Alternatively, you can duplicate video by connecting one projector to the HDMI output and another to VGA or USB-C, then select "Duplicate These Screens" in Windows.

We specialize in setting up engaging projections for diverse venues like cafes, restaurants, banquet halls, and kindergartens, integrating them with interior elements. Since interior designs often differ, typically only one projector interacts with the setting when duplicating images. This mode works best for bare walls or screens.
